Travel by yourself, travel with your family or travel with a small group of friends.
Luino, Lago Maggiore, Italia! Spoken in Italian it sounds wonderful. What a truly gorgeous place. Travellers have been drawn here for centuries, attracted by the mild and sunny climate as well as the stunning scenery and of course superb food and wine. Lago Maggiore and nearby Lago di Lugano are absolutely perfect destinations for a short rowing holiday. Luino sits on eastern shore of Lago Maggiore in Lombardy, northern Italy. With high hills on one side and crystal blue waters on the other, Luino is perfectly poised for rowing excursions to the south, north and west, and then some. The scenery from the boat is glorious. Charming villages with pastel coloured buildings and stone churches climb up the steep hillsides. Castles sprout from islands. Tiny chapels dot the hillside among olive groves and forests. The lake is long and narrow, offering views of snow-capped Alps in Switzerland to the north, and in other directions there are tantalizing curves that entice you to row just a little bit further. Canottieri Luino also has a boathouse on the Italian shore of Lago di Lugano at Ponte Tresa. Bellissimo
Select from two core packages – and within each one you have more options to choose from. Our basic package is called “Build Your Own Trip”. Decide how many rows you would like, from one to four. Choose whether to row from Luino or Ponte Tresa or a mix of both. At the former you will row coastal boats which can handle big lake conditions. Row Olympic class boats from the boathouse at Ponte Tresa in smaller, more sheltered waters. Would you prefer “tour” rows or “technical” rows with the support of a coach, or a combination of both? Outings are typically between one and two hours long.
Our “Personalized Tour” package is exactly that. We have proposed an itinerary based on three longer touring days. There is ample flexibility to adjust the schedule to suit you, including options for lunch breaks and longer or shorter rows. If a point to point trip intrigues you, we can deliver! Insert a day of touring on Lago di Lugano if you would really like variety. The views are stunning, whichever lake you row and whichever direction you go. Add extra days if you wish!

Here is a suggested three day itinerary with rowing distances between 10 and 25 km. Our partners are happy to adapt the program to suit your interests and abilities. It could be possible to offer point to point touring, for an additional trailering fee. Note that weather and water conditions may mean deviations from your personalized plan.
Arrival in Luino and area. Welcome drink and briefing.
We will cross the lake to Cannero di Riviera, first circling Castelli di Cannero. Echoes of Hemmingway at our suggested lunch destination. Back to Luino.
Today we start by crossing the lake to stunning Cannobio. Then if conditions permit, we will continue and row into Switzerland! We recommend a stop for lunch back in Italy and home after a lovely, long day.
On the last row, we will head south for different views and shorelines to explore. At one of our suggested breaks, climb a nearby hill to a chapel for spectacular views and perspective on the beautiful lake that you have explored through rowing.
